'A Photo Walk With Friends'

Every day I thank the universe for embedding the passion of photography into my soul.  It is through this passion, where I feel the most connected to...well...everything!  And speaking of being 'connected'...if it weren't for our online photography classes, the above photos and memories would not even exist.  Yay for the internet!
So...have you ever taken a photo walk with friends?  Set the self timer and jumped off a bench? Posed for the 'non-pose-pose' to look like statues? Found yourself taking more photos of your friends than the actual nature you intended to capture? For me...I adored every minute of this walk focusing more on the silliness of the moment, and not so much on the forest canvas.  Every once in awhile, my eye would find a heart shape here or there, on the ground and in the water...even a smiley face spray painted to a tree.  But, I still was more interested in capturing the photographer shooting that image of the smiley in the tree.  Not only was the tree smiling, but so was I. Big thank you to Kris, Angie and Suzanne for such a great day!
When was your last photo walk with friends?  Please share with us your images and why it was so special to you. ~ xo's

Susan, this looks like so much fun! And such beautiful photos as a keepsake of your lovely day. Oh, so nice! I've learned of some women locally, some of whom are friends, the others who will become friends, that are passionate about photography. It is my intention to get this group of like-minded gals together to organize a local group. No men allowed! My reason for that? I think women take photographs differently than men. I've found so much joy with my online photography gal pals that I think it would be fun to do in my "real" life as well.

Susan - You found the fun! Photography and writing can be solitary pursuits much of the time. And post-processing could make you a hermit! But there is nothing like shooting with friends. When you are this passionate about a common interest, you are sometimes thrown together with people much more diverse than those you might have met somewhere else. It gives you an instant bond and it exposes you to their interests and lives, different than your own usual path. I've done a few workshops and my favorite day is always the first one, where each individual shows up so excited to start 3 or 4 days of doing nothing but what they love! My next favorite time is the last evening, as you celebrate the experience, and (like kids at the end of camp) treasure your new "best friends!" BTW - you learn alot from everyone's diverse skills too.

What a great mosaic with so many great photos. Looks like you had a wonderful time, each frame says so. I live in New England and we are the land of trails and wonderful places to walk. The last time I went for a walk with friends was the Minute Man Trail in Concord, Massachusetts. It was a beautiful sunny day and along the way we took so many wonderful photographs.

Oh, this makes me so happy! Love that you were able to get together and share your love of photography with others who feel the same. It takes me back to the amazingness of camp and how we all felt about spending time with people who were just as obsessed as we were! This photois one I took the first day, shortly after arriving, of several of us campers off on a photo walk together. I think we realized right away how great it was going to be to share this passion with each other.

I have a photowalk coming up in a little over a week with two friends who I haven't met before but who I have "known" for quite some time online and am so excited to spend the day with them. Thanks for the wonderful post, Susan!

It doesn't happen often enough, but, I love to go on photo walks with my sister who lives fairly close. The memories we make together are so very special! Sometimes we come home with pictures that aren't worth anything and are just deleted, but the fun we have is what it's all about!!

This was such a great day. Of course, the time we had was much too short. It was like meeting up with friends you've known for years and years. Can't wait for the next one. Cheers!

This is a wonderful mosaic! I have not had many photo walks with friends but the ones I have gone on ... it seems we are tighter friends because of it. We are looking at the exact same things but the way we all photographed them came out so different. Perfect example of its all in the "eye of the beholder."

HugS!

I am fortunate to have a friend that shares my passion for photography as much as I do. We make it an almost weekly habit of taking photo trips, walks, drives wherever and whatever strikes our fancy. I feel blessed to have found someone so close that shares this with me. And.....in just about a week from now I am meeting up with two photography friends that I have not met in person, but have "known" for a long, long time. Hint...see Terri's post. Love your post, Susan and your photo walk collage is so fun.

I just love this post Susan! I recently got together with a friend from high school who is also a photographer and went on a quick photo walk together. It was so nice to be able to talk with someone who shares the same passion I do and who didn't laugh at me as I was taking pictures of my shoes for the FWIS group :)

I just have to throw in here that I met Sam - (who has posted pictures here) at a photo workshop and he had a great perspective - He has contributed here to our blog, and his pics are wonderful! ALso met Norm in a previous workshop. He had some huge number of sisters and he did well with our group too! It's all in the spirit and diversity is fun!
How did you hear about these local photographers? So great that you'll try to get them together! Have fun!

Unfortunately, I have not found anyone who lives near me who loves photography and could go on a walk with me. I wish I was still down in Houston so I could hang out with you guys!! Such wonderful photos from your day with the girls! Love the post!
