I Could Barely See Past It

by Kim

The fog that is.

The visibility both in front of me and behind me was very limited.

And I started to take notice of the details right before me.

Like the silhouettes of the branches, dew dripping from the fence, moss growing on the tree, and the sharp
barbed wire.

It brought to the forefront, those things that I might otherwise miss. A spider web laden with water drops from the mist of the fog.

And, I saw the color of now.

I heard the fog speak to me. It said Kim, there is a reason that which is behind and ahead of you, the past and the future are so blurry.

It's because the focus should be on the gift of today.

The present has no shelf life. It is an interactive gift that expires each and everyday at midnight.

Today, I am thankful for this gift, all 1440 seconds of it. The good. The bad. And the ugly.

Wishing everyone celebrating this week a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Kim xo

Thank you for this Kim! This is just the message I needed today, as I am looking ahead to Thursday so much I might miss what is right in front of me! Glad I didn't miss this!

Oh, my, I've just read this three times! So true and illustrated so beautifully. It has always been a fault of mine to always be looking ahead and not concentrating on the here and now, planning, planning, planning. I think photography taught me to focus on what is in front of me, especially when I fell in love with macro photography and started to see things I would have never seen before. Yes, the cow is there, but you can't really see him so you are forced to focus on the fence and the raindrops. Maybe we all need a little fog in our lives to help us focus on what is right in front of us. Wonderful, timely post and amazingly beautiful photographs, my friend.

Yes! You speak the truth to a subject we've discussed many times here: being present now. But like Terri, I'm a planner {I know, you're shocked!}, always thinking at least one step ahead. I love how you drew this beautiful life lesson from your jaw-dropping foggy photo shoot! Well done.

What beautiful thoughts (and photos). We all get so caught up in life that we forget the simple things that are around us everyday. Love your post.
