For me, winter is a season that I am drawn to my home. Even though I still have work, and the usual errands, and all of my son's winter activities, things are just a little bit slower here in the winter. I've been a New Yorker all of my life, but I don't like the cold, so I try to embrace the part of winter that is warm and cozy. Sitting by the fire with a glass of wine, a good book and a cozy blanket get me through the long winter months.
Sitting with my blanket and glass of wine gives me time to look around my home. I see what I like, what I'd like to change, and get ideas for what I'd like to add to my home decor.
I had a recent bout of the flu, and although that was down right miserable, it did give me time to look through some of my home design magazines and peruse Pinterest for hours on end. (boy is that site addictive or what?!)
We often talk here about getting our photos off of our cameras and into our homes - whether that be in beautiful scrapbooks like Terri talked about earlier this week, or onto canvas or into frames to display around our homes. I'm not a scrapbooker (however, Terri's and Kelly's photos of their scrapbooks always make me wish I was one), so I wanted to find some ideas for displaying some of my photos. I found so many great ideas I just had to show you some of them! Not all of these are ideas that I would use in my home, but they sure are creative!
I loved this beautiful traditional display of photos, but in white frames instead of the usual black frames. I like symmetry, so this really spoke to me.

And then I saw this....Traditional with a modern twist. Again, I like the symmetry of this. It's fun with no traditional frames. It looks like white mats for the framing. And what a great way to combine traditional with a little modern by using the metal rods and clips to hang these photos?!

If you're really adventurous, and talented, why not paint a family tree on your wall? This one gives nice contrast to the wall, and almost acts as the headboard.

Or, why not go all out and paint an entire family tree? This is pretty bold for my taste, but I can see that a more muted version of this would be kind of fun.

This is a pretty frame set from Bed Bath and Beyond. If you can paint, you could paint this same type of design around your door frame and then hang your frames.

I loved this display with the vintage frames. I have several older frames like this. Have you noticed that a lot of the antique stand up frames are very small? I think this display is just lovely, and a great way to display some older photos of your ancestors.

Maybe your design style is more on the rustic side. There were plenty of beautiful ideas for that too! This is made from a wooden pallet and some wooden clothes pins.
I've always liked this next idea. Using old window frames for picture frames just works. My sister has done this and the results are fabulous! I especially love the extra rustic look to this frame.

I had to post this last idea for one of our readers, Pam. (Pam I hope you're reading this today.) The bobbers could be changed out for flies if that is more your fishing style.
How do you display your photos? I'd love to see your displays. The great thing about these ideas is that you can obviously put your own twist on them. You can use them as a jumping board and let your creativity go wild! With a couple more months of cold weather here in New York, I should have plenty of time to use some of these ideas and get my photos off my computer and onto my walls.
