The Thing About February...

February is the month for love.  We have been focusing on the ones we love and showing them how much we love them for the whole month!

What a great thing!

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, February is also part of winter.

Winter makes me want to stay indoors where it is warm.  But my camera still calls to me.

"I'm here! I'm available! I love you!"

(I have the sweetest camera!)

Tho the weather outside is frightful and the inside is so delightful....(or something like that)

But I digress, back to that Northern Hemisphere thing...
Everyone knows the days are shorter in winter.  The sun travels low in the southern sky.  Winter sunlight is so lovely.  This lovely light finds its way into various windows of my house at various times of the day.  This lovely light beckons to become part of an indoor studio.

I would rather be outside, outside in the light exploring with my camera, finding little treasures along the sidewalk or in the corner of the yard.

In winter, I bring my little treasures inside and photograph them in lovely winter light flowing through the windows and into my "studio".

ahh!

Look around the house and find where the cat (or dog) is napping.  Chances are he (or she) has found some lovely winter light!

Maybe you have some beautiful flowers you want to remember.

Even the newspaper can look good on a sunlit table!

Have you photographed something in some lovely winter light shining through your windows?  Share it with us!

"In the beginning there was nothing.  God said, "Let there be light!" And there was light.  There was still nothing but you could see it a whole lot better." ~Ellen DeGeneres

What a great incentive to grab that camera on a cold winter day. The light can be incredible, especially reflecting off the snow!

Hi Linda,
What a wonderful photograph. I love when the light is so magnificent just before sunset. Without the leaves on the trees, the sun has room to stream through the woods. I will surely bring my camera along on my outing today...to catch the winter's light.

Amazing shot and great encouragement to keep shooting during the winter months. Living in the south, we have no shortage of sunlight here but I know that's not the case for so many people this time of year. Love your idea to find the sunlight inside. After all, a photographer can go a little "nuts" when they can't shoot!

What a gorgeous capture of light!! Haven't had much sunlight lately, but I do find beautiful light on my covered front porch!

Where would we photographers be without light? So essential to our craft! The light here is mesmerizing. If this kind of light doesn't inspire a photographer to grab a camera, I don't know what will. I'm inspired to go find some light today!

Ahhhh the Light! Glorious light.

Some times I just wander my house and look for light beaming in ... some days like today there isnt any. *sigh*

Ah!!! This golden light is beautiful!! I would love to just sit there with my eyes closed and soak it in! I may make someone jealous, but we've had no shortage of light the last couple of days. Today beautiful sunshine and 81 degrees!! Definitely not our noraml February weather!! And yes, I've been outside with my camera!!

We have had very little sun this winter along with very little snow and my camera is in mourning for being inside too long. I love it when the sun shines in, I bask in the warmth and light.

Look at that light! I can just feel it's warmth! I do find it is easy to feel uninspired during the winter because of the lack of light. But I appreciate your great reminder to keep my eyes open!

Beautiful capture of light Linda! I especially love seeing your little companion soaking up some of that sunlight! My dog does the same thing. :)

Beautiful photo Linda! I find myself quite obsessed with light especially in the winter when vibrant color is not nearly as plentiful. Love the Ellen quote :)

There is something special about the angle of the winter light - so mood lifting, especially during the winter months.

Found you through shutter sisters.
