Holy Macro!

Hi there FOL'ers....I have to confession to make.  I've been very ho hum about my photography lately.  It's hard to feel inspired when it's 113 degrees outside.  Nature has always been a muse for me and I find inspiration every time I step outside except for right now.  Right now I just melt.  Instead of stepping outside and feeling the soft grass beneath my feet and flowers in bloom, I feel the crunchiness under my feet and the only color I see is brown.  From the comfort of my air conditioned home I'm yelling go away summer, bring on fall!

Because I'm in a rut I haven't been carrying my camera around with me as much, but I have been using my iphone a lot.  Anyone else as addicted to Instagram as I am?  (follow me! loveleeokc) It is amazing to me what people are doing with camera phones these days.  People are taking macro shots with their phones!  with their phones people!  And the photos are blowing me away!!  How are they doing that?  And then I figured out their secret.  It's the Olloclip.  Oh my goodness...have you heard about this thing?  It is life changing!  I now have the ability to shoot with my iphone in wide-angle, fish eye and yes even macro!  Check out the photo collage above.  All of those were taken with my iphone using the Olloclip.  If you are a macro lover and iphoneography addict like me then you have got to check this thing out.

Macro is like an old dependable friend.  I always know that it can pull me out of a rut.  I remember the first time I put a macro lens on my camera and stepped outside.  It was like a whole new world opened up to me!  For me macro photography is taking something, that at first glace seems ordinary, but then upon a closer look you find the extraordinary.  And now I can do that with my iphone!  So needless to say this is quickly pulling me out of my rut.

While you are posting your beautiful barn photos for our INFOCUS theme this month why don't you go ahead and show us some macro shots too.  Got any tips for newbie macro photographers?  post them in our comment section.  Photography is a never ending journey and we can never learn enough!  So go ahead...move in closer....zoom on in and see what you can discover.

OK, now you have tempted me to check out this new olloclip...!! I still have not fallen in love with i phone photography, I guess haven't given it a chance. Maybe you all can teach me at Camp Oasis!! You sure captured some beauties!!

Oh, Leigh! I love those olloclip photos! I've been dragging my feet on getting an olloclip ... you may have just pushed me over the edge. Like Deanna, I'm not totally enamored with iPhoneography although I've been doing more and more of it. I'm hot and cold with IG ... seems to depend on what's going on in my life and whether I think about it or not.

Thanks for the fun post!

Funny Leigh, I thought this post was written by Terri. I kept going back up to make sure it was not just posted by you and written by Terri. With the 113 degrees is what got me to thinking it was Terri, I know I don't have the energy or the desire these days here in the desert to go out of my AC home. I have been thinking of the new gagets for the iphone but just am not sold on these yet but agree you got my attention with the beautiful work you did with it. I also am not sold on the Instragram thing, I think I really need to talk to you more in Palm Springs on this and see how it really works.

If I hadn't just ordered the Olloclip for my iPhone on Monday, I'd be ordering it right now. I have been watching Tara Wesley (tarawanders), Cindy Chilton (cinlafs) and you do such amazing things with your Olloclips that I knew it was the one thing that would get me hooked on iPhoneography. Like Deanna, I've found it hard to really fall in love with iPhone photography and have only dabbled in Instagram but I am a macro addict and I think the Olloclip will be the thing that really hooks me. Yes, the heat! Oh, my gosh it would kill anyone's excitement about going outside to take photos. Thanks for the great post and I'll bet you have convinced a few people to get an Olloclip and try macro iPhoneography. Your collage of photos is gorgeous! (Laughing about Barbara thinking this post was mine! Yes, it's hot here too -- 114 today, but it's a dry heat!)

That is too funny Barbara! Oklahoma has been way too hot lately! I don't know how you all do it in Arizona. We will definitely chat about the Olloclip at Oasis!

Tara's photos have been out of this world! I love the olloclip because you can get that softness and bokeh that otherwise you couldn't with just a camera phone. It's so fun to play around with!

Do it! Order it now! so much fun to play around with! I think what I love most about Instagram is that it's like a daily journal for me. I've tried countless times to do a written journal, but I never keep up with it. But through IG I journal my daily life. I'm thinking about printing out all my IG photos in a book through Paper Coterie.

Yes! we will gab about it at Oasis!! Can't wait!

Just got word mine is going to be delivered today! Can't wait to start playing!

Well as Terri said it is dry heat, never believed it before I moved her but it is true about dry verses humidity. Still had these months though and want to move back to CA. :)

So great to see you in PS and hearing all about the new Olloclip and Instagram. :)

Your photos are amazing. It is so hard to believe the things we can do with our iPhones! I am using the camera on mine a little more than I was, but as many others have stated, I haven't fully gotten into iphoneography yet. I love macro photography, and that little olloclip may be just the thing I need! Stay cool!

Great photos, I have a droid so I'm not sure that they have these things for my phone? But I have to say that I've been getting some pretty cool pics with just the phone on the close-up setting. I love macro and on my big-girl camera my macro lens in on more than it is off. I'm always amazed at the things they come up with for phones!! Loved this...
