Timeless Miracles

 by Carol A.

Ocean Avenue, Cape May

One of my friends has a daughter who is going to deliver a baby today. They are all set to leave the house by 7:00 this morning, as I leave for work.  As I arrive at work today, I am informed that one of my long time patients has passed away.

Just think, as you go through your day today:

Someone is bringing life, creating a new family.
Someone is adjusting to a new way of being a family.
Someone is having the greatest success of their lives.
Someone is failing at something they wanted to try.
Someone has just completed a painting.
Someone is ripping up their manuscript page in disgust.
Someone is having a peaceful day off.
Someone is surviving the busiest day they've ever had.
Someone is waking up on the street.
Someone is kissing awake their toddler.
Someone is choosing words that hurt.
Someone is providing comfort.
Someone is on fire with inspiration.
Someone has writers block.
Someone's car was repossessed.
Someone won the lottery.
Someone let a disagreement blossom into a fight.
Someone forgave a hurt.
Someone went into remission.
Someone was diagnosed.
Someone is wallowing in self-pity.
Someone is feeling grateful.

Yesterday, I took a picture of a flowering tree. Today on Instagram I saw an almost identical picture, taken yesterday in Sweden.

You can sit in the shade today, because someone planted a tree a long time ago.  We are all the same. We are all different. We can all contribute.

"If a man loses his reverence for any part of life, he will lose his reverence for all of life."
                                    Albert Schweitzer

Isn't it all miraculous?

Ah, the Eastern seaboard. I get to comment first but you all get to sleep later. To me, this post speaks of the vastness. That vast, vast, vastness. How big everything is and how connected we all are in ways known and unknown. The duality of nature and events. You make me think, FOL, you make me think. Welcome to the week.

Good thoughts for the beginning of this week. A reminder to me to be grateful for my blessings and to think of others.

One of my favorite quotes of all time is "be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle." I try to remember this, and your words today brought it to the forefront. For every joy we experience in life, someone else is fighting some kind of battle. When we're fighting that battle, someone else is finding joy. A good reminder today to always be grateful for the good, and remember others who are going through pain. Love this post Carol.

Yes, the juxtaposition of those two events just really brought all these thoughts up for me. And I think as you get older and see more of life, it becomes apparent.
Yes - this group is a real blessing. Thank you all for your comments.

Yes, beautiful post, Carol! I'm late to the game today although I did read this on my phone this morning ... great way to start the week. What I immediately thought of was how vast the universe and how minute I am/we are ... in spite of our own feeling of self-importance. Love your photos, love the whole post. It captures what we want to do here at FOL - be and become thoughtful people who contribute to a better place with our talents such as they are.

Loved this post Carol...lOvEd!! And how wonderful that technology affords us all the opportunity to be connected through a box in the comfort of our own home. It affords us the opportunity when others allow to peek into snippets of our lives, to know we are small and the world is big. And it show us that in our being different we are really more similar. Thank you for sharing these beautiful thought with us!
