Butterfly Wonderland

by Terri

It’s that time of the year here in the desert where we tend to go into hibernation. It’s just too hot to do much of anything outside. It affects me the same way that some of you feel in the dead of winter. When I can’t be regularly shooting with my camera, I get a major case of camera withdrawal.

Butterfly Wonderland to the rescue! This amazing butterfly atrium, said to be the largest in the country, opened a couple of weeks ago only 15 minutes from my house, so I decided to head over for a visit to see what I could find to shoot. Oh, my, did I get my fill of things to shoot! I could barely take my camera away from my face! It was definitely a wonderland with waterfalls, flowers and thousands of  gorgeous butterflies everywhere!

This was exactly what the doctor ordered! And just think . . . I can go back as many times as I want to all summer whenever I need some camera time. I just may survive my case of camera withdrawal!

Are you finding ways to get out and use your camera this summer? Whether it is outdoors or somewhere inside like me, make sure to share what you are shooting in the Flickr gallery.  Our July Monthly Focus is Summer Fun. You can read about it under the Monthly Focus tab above. I’m sure there’s plenty of summer fun going on at your house, so be sure to have your cameras out to capture it all and don’t forget to share it with us!

These are stunning, and I know very difficult to capture with their wings spread. What a great place to have so close to your home. I think you will have a very colorful summer ahead of you!

Oh my, takes my breath away. This is a definite "go to" the next time I am out your way. While you have been so hot....we have been really cool. Blankets at night with no air conditioning.
