Sisterhood

by Susan

 SISTERHOOD  {sis·ter·hood}:
- the close relationship among women based on shared experiences, concerns, etc.
- a community or society of women
When I was asked to do a guest post for this wonderful group of women, the first thing that came to mind was...oh my...what do I write about?  Gratitude is this month's theme...so many things I'm grateful for.  So, so many.  With that said, which one to focus on, to put out there...to share with this wonderful community.  Think Susan...think, think, think.  And just like that...there it was, right in front of me...the blog...the Focusing On Life blog...the women who contribute to this blog and the women who follow it...the common link...the thread that binds us to one another...our love for sharing the little windows, the images, of our lives...through photography.  Ding, ding, ding....the silent bell in my head goes off...and of course...it all comes together now.  Sisterhood...I'm grateful for sisterhood.

"Sisterhood is not a destination, but a journey." - author unknown

We are all connected in one way or another...whether it's through family, friendships, hobbies and passions...we long for that connection with others who validate, give reason, to our life here on earth.  It's who we are.  It is who I am.

Susan & Terri sharing a 'sisterhood' moment.

Focusing on Life...it is a 'sisterhood'... a community of women brought together because of our love for photography...and for friendship.  I am so grateful to be on this journey, this sisterhood, with you.
The FOL flickr pool is open...so dive, jump...take a running canon-ball leap into this heartfelt journey of sisterhood and share your life, your visions...YOU!  xoxo

Just a gentle reminder to post your GRATITUDE photos to our Flickr page and mention in your description what you're thankful for. We have some gorgeous all-purpose photos but only Gratitude photos will be considered for Focus on You. We'd love to have you play along!

Oh, these photos absolutely warm my heart! I remember this adventure like it was yesterday -- 70 women, many of them who had never met and only had their love of photography in common, coming together in the spirit of sisterhood. You and I had only met online when we finally met in person at the Phoenix airport and flew to Monterrey together, but by the time we arrived we were lifelong friends. Such a special memory! And you are so right that FOL is a sisterhood, not only the 11 of us who blog here, but we hope all of our readers feel like part of the family because of the passion we share. Thank you so much for this wonderful post and for one of my most favorite memories! It was the beginning of my understanding of what this kind of sisterhood is all about.

I love your post and all of your images bring me back to camp. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet you as well as so many other amazing women and I love that the journey of sisterhood continues to unfold. xoxo, Kristina

It is sooooo true! I missed the first SS camp but was able to go to Oasis in Palm Springs. It is truly a sisterhood when we share the same passions. We have a wonderful sisterhood here at FOL both among the collaborators and the readers who spend part of their day with us. Lovely post, Susan, and thanks for the sweet reminder of what we share. And welcome! Some of you may not know that Susan was one of the original FOL sisters when we started FOL in 2012. So happy to have her back her on our pages. :-D

So good to have you here again Susan. Your guest post is certainly a special one. I feel such a connection with all of my FOL sisters here, and I do also hope that those who follow us feel that they are connected to us, and we to them. Your photos are just beautiful, and how special that you have these with you and Terri in them. A special post indeed.

Late to the party but I'm here...part of this sisterhood...the journey...of beauty and friendship, of life! Connection is something we all yearn for in the deepest part of ourselves and this community of "sisters" hopefully helps everyone do just that! xo

Love your post about sisterhood! I think the part that rings with me is the sharing. This sisterhood of women and community of photographers has so openly shared so much. I have learned much and for this I am grateful.

Sisterhood is so important as we all progress in life! Being a sister involves love and loyalty and teaching and learning and just plain fun! What a nice idea for a post!
