The Beauty and Meaning of the Hawk

by Deanna

Recently I captured this image of this magnificent and beautiful bird, The Red Tail Hawk. I combed the internet looking for a good quote to attach to this post, but could not find any that satisfied me, but in looking I found this information about the hawk and what it represents to many. Animals & birds are usually held in great esteem by the American Indian finding in them strong meanings and pathways to life.

The Hawk represents a sign from their god or deity, a messenger.  He/She is very protective of their young in its nest, teaching us about providing for our family and ourselves.  He teaches us to be observant and to pay attention to what we may overlook.  Perhaps a talent we don’t use, a blessing for which we haven’t expressed gratitude, or a message from above.  The Hawk has keen eyesight, schooling us to open our eyes and see that which is there to guide us and to courageously face our fear of the unknown in order to fly as high as our heart’s joy can take us.

So in capturing this image I have a new appreciation not only for his beauty but in what he represents.  And like the Hawk, let’s all fly as high as our heart’s joy can take us.

(reminder - we are on vacation for the month of August, untethered to our computers and outdoors in the air. A simple picture and quote or thought will come your way daily. Meanwhile, the Flickr and Instagram pools will
 feature weekly colors. This week we featured PINK
 (notice the pink sky in my image hee hee}
Next week - Post Some Turquoise!)

Wow! What a beautiful photo! You did a terrific job, it looks like he posed for you! And I love the story. I guess we all need a bit of hawk in us, don't we?
