A Gratitude Journey

by Dotti

As we express our gratitude,
we must never forget that the highest appreciation
is not to utter words but to
live by them.
                                                                   ~  John F. Kennedy

November is Gratitude Month at FOL. As we did last year, we encourage each of you to practice gratitude by posting a photo each day of something that fills you with gratitude.  But this year, let’s take it a step further and turn that gratitude into random acts of kindness.

We’re big on gratitude here at FOL because we’ve each learned how rich the rewards are when you practice gratitude. It is for this reason that we are going to encourage you, our favorite readers {meaning all of you!} to join us again in this journey by posting daily, or as often as you can, for the month of November, a photo of something that filled you with gratitude.

It can be anything; something beautiful, something funny, something poignant, something not-so-pretty.  The only requirement is that these photos express something that you are grateful for.

Then, let’s take it one step further. Let’s turn our gratitude into random acts of kindness as often as we can, maybe daily, maybe not. How often we do it doesn’t matter, what matters is that we do it so that we can spread the gratitude beyond our own hearts to others around us.

Yes, I know it’s already the third day of the month but it’s not too late to begin your gratitude journey. To kick things off, I’ll share with you what I’m grateful for today.

These hands belong to some of the lovely ladies who bring you Focusing on Life every day. I’m grateful for the creativity, kindness, dedication and love that flows from these hands onto our pages here at FOL. I’m grateful for the friendship of my colleagues here at our blog and for you … each and every one of our readers.

Now … let’s begin our gratitude journey. I hope you'll fill our Flickr gallery and Instagram feed {#focusingonlife #gratitude} with your gratitude photos and a short description of what inspired your gratitude. It's going to be a great month!

With gratitude and love,
Dotti

Grateful for YOU Dotti! Love the idea of taking gratitude a step further to action. Kind words inspire; caring deeds make change. Both are necessary.

Gratitude is such an amazing thing. The more you look for what you are grateful for, the more you find and the more you pass that on to others, the more it comes back to you. I loved this gratitude challenge last year and am so happy to participate again. I am grateful for you and for all of my FOL sisters each morning when I come here to read what you have written. I'm grateful for every second of our time together in Galveston, the laughs, the tears, the sharing. The photo of all the hands really touched me and it was fun to try to figure out whose hands were whose! I hope all of our readers will join us in this month of kindness and gratitude.

dotti I love this so much. I am so grateful each and every one who contributes to this blog, but also to our entire family...the support and encouragement are so special. and as we are filled with gratitude it only makes sense to share it with others. it will be a kindness revolution. can't wait!

Gratitude does turn everything into enough - all about perspective isn't it. Love the post, love the hands, and yes to random kindness not just this month but always! xo
