Color Me Happy

One of my favorite things about spring is that each passing day sees more and more color. While there are many reasons to love winter, the overwhelming amounts of gray, brown, black and white for many months at a time, can become quite depressing!

As the days get longer, the first noticeable change I see is the sky....less gray, more blue. Then comes some green, that beautiful spring green color of the buds on the trees and the new blades of grass. Then flowers begin popping out and after a few rain showers and some warm days, it seems the world is blazing with color. Oh, be still my beating heart!

Here in Texas, the wildflowers have started to bloom and the sides of the highways are exploding with yellow, orange, purple and pink. Just driving down the road gives me a little color pick-me-up and makes me smile. So those of you that are still knee deep in winter, I wanted to share some color happiness with you. For those of you already seeing spring, join in the color party and share your happiest photos in the flickr gallery!

You've been reading my mind, haven't you, Stephanie? This is my lament each year as the holiday season draws to a close and winter sets in: no color to be found anywhere. My heart, mind, and soul literally pine for color and impatiently await spring and the abundance of color that it brings. Our spring this year is earlier than usual and even more beautiful than usual. I love each of your images but between you and Linda, I've come to yearn for the Texas wildflowers y'all have been sharing with us. So pretty! Thanks for your lovely post.

Oh, Stephanie! These are so beautiful! Every color of the rainbow!! I too have been enjoying the wildflowers along the highways! On one of our interstates, they've sown red clover in the medium. It is just beginning to bloom. I'll be driving that interstate just to see it in full bloom! I wish there were a safe place to pull over and capture the beauty, but there's just not! I love all your images, but, my favorites are the yellow wildflowers and the green image! I've really noticed the many shades of green this spring!! Your lovely set brightened my morning!! Looking forward to seeing Sunday's post!!

Even here in sunny Arizona, the winters lack the color that we all love so much. This time of year, I never leave my house without my camera because something new is blooming every day. And I know what Cathy means about wishing there were safer places to pull off the road sometimes! There is a 3-foot wide median on a road I travel frequently and right now the beavertail cactus are in full bloom and so gorgeous. All I can do is look and wish I could capture them. I think it would be a little risky to try to actually shoot them, so I just enjoy the beauty they bring to the landscape. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful spring images!

It's still cool, rainy and dreary here. But, the promise of Spring is on it's way.... Thank you for the color party! Love it. I especially like the composition of the yellow and green images. I'm inspired!

Oh Stephanie, what an absolutely beautiful post....you know how I LOVE color and I am reveling in the spring colors this year in particular. Your collection is stunning....the yellow one took my breath away and the little hand tugs at my heart. Thank you for sharing the colors of Texas, a place near and dear to my heart.

Stephanie,
Such gorgeous gorgeous flowers! Wow, since our Spring in NY is jussssst beginning it is wonderful to see all of these flowers, and all of that color! My absolute favorite are the violets in the vase! My most favorite flower of all time is the wild violet - they were even in my wedding bouquet - which proved difficult since I was married in October!! Thank you for sharing such beauty!

I meant to say, the violets being held in the hand! :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE all of the pictures! Stunning! But I think my favorite is the bluebonnets... I love that dreamy look that says "good morning!" and the barely noticeable, curvy road in the back. And the light, wow! I want to learn how get the background to fade like that. Is it something you do with the camera or something you do later in your computer?
I also would love to know how you all manage to get your names to appear in the pictures...
Thank you for this beautiful post!
