FOY Back Lighting

Our theme for this month is backlighting....what could be more perfect than the image of this beautiful setting/rising sun throwing its rays of light into this lovely scene. I especially like that it is b&w which seems to enhance those radiant beams. Focusing On You - A Little Cactus Love

Ahh the season of bokeh, don't you just love this bokeh filled windowsill by Margie. Even tho cactus are not the usual holiday greenery, Margie created a lovely Christmas feel by painting the pots gold. Focus On You!

If you're like me your thoughts are turning toward the cooler days of fall; days that we can sit outside, enjoy a chocolate snack, a mug full of deliciousness, and immerse ourselves in magazines. I love Diana Ann's delightful mug with it's beautiful touches of yellow. The warm yellow on the mug also brings out the yellows in the magazine cover. Thank you Diana Ann for this inspiring image. August has come to an end, along with our weekly color prompts. We thank each of you who participated this month. Pretty purples, radiant reds, tantalizing turquoises, glorious greens, and yummy yellows created a very colorful FOL Flickr Gallery.

FOY - The Color Red

The August Break color for this 2nd week of August is red, one of my all-time favorite colors. I know that this particular image does not contain a huge amount of the color red, but it gives this beautiful piece of architecture just the right pop of color. Our third week of our August Break brings us the color turquoise, a beautiful color in the summertime. Let's load the flickr pool with the many shades of turquoise. Thanks for being a part of our community.

Our Flickr gallery is exploding with beauty, happiness, sunshine, flowers, beaches, pools - you name it, we've got it covered. It's a beautiful way to start a day. And then there was this photo. Wouldn't seeing this on your plate put a smile on your face first thing in the morning? It would mine - and believe me, that's a tall task!

Dark and moody photography has been a revelation to me this past month! I had never really tried it on a bright summer day.  Who would have thought that I would choose to focus on an indoor picture in the middle of summer? But this straw hat just says SUMMER to me in capitol letters - reminds me of those beachy days when you take a mid-day break from the hot sun and grab a nap in a breezy rental house bedroom....

Focusing On You

As I was perusing our Flickr group and choosing the Focus On You image for the week, I was completely drawn into this lovely, dark and moody photograph of a simple book and a pair of glasses. We're only a few days into May but already our gallery is alive with beauty. The texture in these shells from Karen Kirby's Flickr stream are a beautiful example of this month's theme: texture. You all have outdone yourselves this month with your Spring Color photos! It was impossible to choose one to feature each week and this week is no exception, so I made it easier and chose two! First is this gorgeous shot by Janice Johnson.

The beautiful pale pink of the flowers is the perfect setting for a Monarch just stopping by to have her photo taken!  You can see more of Janice's beautiful images on her Photostream

And this shot by Maria (echie52) with the lovely pink wax flowers, beautiful depth of field and perfect quote captured my heart as soon as I saw it.  The perfect shot to finish off our springtime theme! You can see more of Maria's photos on her Photostream.

I'm in love with this collage of beautiful images by jlm65!  And when I went into her gallery to look around, I was delighted with everything I saw, especially the animal ones. She clearly loves them! Thanks for sharing this with us here at FOL!

Wednesday Focus on You

With our flickr stream filled with glorious reds and golds highlighting the glory that is Autumn, this image by SUA13photography caught my attention right away.  Her caption reads, 'fall is in the air.' Not only is this a beautifully serene photo, but I thought it was a unique way to show 'fall.'  The cool whites and blues were unexpected to me, but the texture of the linen, and the flowers in their 'fall state' are so beautifully put together and form a stunning image.

Thank you for sharing this image with us.  And thank you to all of you who are filling flickr and Instagram with such breathtaking images - each one more beautiful than the next!

Focus on You

There are many beautiful photos in our Flickr gallery this week but when I came to this photo by Janice Johnson, it took my breath away. I am a lover of anything to do with the sea and nothing speaks to the romanticism of the sea quite like these regal sailing ships. The fact that my grandfather and his fathers before him roamed the seas in the 19th century might have something to do with that. But in any event, I felt I must share Janice's photo with you this week.

Janice Johnson honored our gallery this week with this heartfelt image of Lexi! I can feel the love - Janice's love for Lexi and Lexi's love for Janice. What better to translate through a photo than LOVE?
