Light in the Dark

In the dark, it's difficult to find the light.

Starting this blog, the 10 of us were "on line" friends. We were woman who joined together to share our love of photography and our lives.

We didn't know that we would fast become life sisters, as we focused on our lives and shared.

Today, as I am struggling with some of the darkest times of my life, I receive 3 post cards from some of my "life sisters" who had participated in a post card swap. I had not joined that workshop yet I was blessed enough to receive 3 lovely postcards with a hand written note from each of them. Hand written notes are fast becoming a lost art.

Things just don't happen by chance. People don't come into our lives by chance.

I was amazed at the similarity of each of these cards. There was no instruction as to what the post cards were to be, only to print some of their favorite photos onto the cards, yet look how the colors of greens are almost spot on! All gorgeous. All of wonderful flowers.

Each card had a sweet note, each unique. But each signed...FOL life sister! This brought me to tears.

Words can not express how they touched my heart just at the time I needed them. Thank you!

Borrowing Leigh's quote from her post card:

                                                     "When words become unclear,
                                                        I shall focus with photographs.
                                                       When images become inadequate,
I shall be content with silence."
                                                                    ~Ansel Adams

Next Monday we will roll out a new monthly theme, so take your last chance to post to our Flickr pool with your WATER photos! If you don't have any to add stop by and just see the fabulous ones that have been shared! You all ROCK!

I agree with you that people don't come into your life by chance. How lucky you are to have these women for support during this time.

Now I am wiping away tears! I always thought that things happen for a reason and sometimes the reason is not clear, that is the hard part. I hope you find your light soon. I'm sending happy thoughts your way!
Great post and wonderful pictures as always!

xo,
Linda

Total agreement: Things happen for a reason ... even though it may take years for that reason to be revealed. However, to help us "while away" the time, we have one another to carry and support us, each in turn as needed. So here we are now, dear Claudia, ready to support while you need us. A lovely post.

Oh Claudia, like Linda my eyes are dripping....I'm so sorry you are having a difficult time right now. I sure wish I could just reach out and give you a great big hug. There is a quote that I really like... " There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." by Edith Wharton We will all reflect our light for you Claudia, until you get yours back!! XO

I completely agree about people coming into our lives for a reason. The way this group came together with none of us ever having met other than online is still amazing to me, but I count each and every one of them as a friend. Your post puts into words how much a simple gesture like a card or a note can mean to someone. For the postcard swap, we only needed five postcards but I had to order 20, thinking I would use them at some time or another. Then I received one from Leigh and it delighted me so much that I decided to pass that on and send one of mine to each of my "life sisters". I am so happy these postcards brought a little joy into your day, Claudia, and I hope knowing we are all there for you will help ease you through this difficult time.

It's true - sometimes the simplest of gestures from someone can make a big impact in our lives. I am so glad that the cards came to you at just the right time. I love the quote that Kim wrote above, all of us reflecting our love back to you at this time. I hope you can truly feel the love and support coming from all of us from all over the country!

Dear Claudia - It's so hard to hear that you are going through a hard time. You may not be able to see your light right now, but I can see it all the way from New Jersey in every comment you make, and every post you put up. You are all heart. You are also very brave to reach out to your life sisters - and I have no doubt that we will all respond to you. Hang in there, and please let me know if you can think of anything I can do to help! Sending prayers your way for your happiness and well - being. I love Judy's quote about reflecting your light! I'm thinking of you over here on the east coast.

Dear Claudia, Hang in there, hang in there. Take in all the love and support and good wishes. I hope the soothing current of the metaphorical river we all stand in will carry your troubles away and bring you peace as you stand on strong footing and smooth rocks. Steady on, girl, steady on. I think the only good thing about hard times is they pass. Never fast enough, but they do pass. Steady on.
oxoxo Pam
