About a month ago, I shared a project I was working on. It was still a work in progress at the time of my post, but I am now happy to report it is finally finished!
These are hanging in the entry of my home. And lucky for me, the doors to my office open to this wall! So every day as I do my work, I am greeted by all these happy images!
As you can see there are three frames. I decided to group them by themes. One for travel/trips (which is almost exclusively my Shutter Sisters Oasis trip last fall), one for family, and one for things (flowers, mugs, fruit, clouds, etc). I had completed the travel frame at my last post, but the frames with family and things were recently filled.
I absolutely love how the whole idea turned out!
A few of you had commented on my previous post that you would have a hard time getting past my front entry if you came for a visit. That very thing happened a few weeks ago when we hosted a Superbowl party at our home! Several of the guests and I spent a good portion of our time in the entry talking about all the photos, where I took them or how I captured them. It was the best feeling to get the photos off my computer and share them with those who enter my home!
So, my dear friends, if you can't remember the last time you printed a photo and hung it on your wall....do it now! There is power in seeing your images in print!

Beautifully done, Stephanie! I love that your photos are arranged in an orderly way. I don't have a huge frame like yours (although there might be one in my future!) but I have a bulletin board that I use for photos I love but that don't necessarily require a frame. It's totally random. I can get a lot on there but it sort of drives me crazy. This, my friend, is a fabulous project and I'm so happy you shared it with all of us here.
The finished project looks stunning Stephanie. I love the neat and orderly way they are displayed - easy for the eye to take it all in. Thanks for sharing this today, and congratulations on completing this fantastic project.
They're so so fantastic! What do you use to stick the photos to the burlap?
I loved this when you first posted about it and love it even more now that it is finished! The way you divided your photos into categories is genius! Makes for easier viewing and keeps things orderly. I wish I had the wall space (not to mention a husband who is handy enough to make the frames for me)! Love that you can see them from your office -- such great inspiration! I'm proud of you that you stuck with this until it was completed. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Love how your idea turned out! What fun seeing your photography come to life on your wall
Great post, Stephanie, this is such a fantastic work!!! I L O V E to look at how you arranged all your photos! What a great, great idea...and you did it!
Such a wonderful idea a great way of seeing memories....
That looks wonderful. You really have inspired me to get my photos printed and on the wall!
I was one of those who said that...and now that it's finished I really, really would! Looks amazing, and yes I need to print my photos, asap!
Love your completed project! It has to make you smile every time you see it! I recently had some small collage frames done for my family room wall, of family photo's and I am so glad I took the time to pick out my favorite shots and have them framed. I agree......you need to seem your photo's printed! Thanks for sharing!
Well done! Looks wonderful. Ok, now I've got to print stuff out!
Very, very, nice. Sometimes the trouble with digital is that nothing gets printed!! Now everyone can enjoy your lovely work!
(I will try again and get it right this time!) I think this is such a wonderful project, Staphanie. Really Beautiful. I would love to know though.....did you actually print out all the photos and the create your own patchwork because all the edges are perfectly aligned. That is some maths there! Did you give them all borders and how? Was there a bit of software that helped. Please tell. I am soooooo inspired.
I have been thinking of this since your last post. I think it would be a great idea to make one of these for a studio . As you work on your images you could print small ones each time and pop them up there to look at for awhile, sometimes that makes you see what you need to do. Or your favorites may evolve and change. Of course a bulletin board would do the same , but this looks nicer!
Great job on your project Steph!
Thanks for all of the comments!
Sue - I did print all the photos and create my own patchwork! I printed them at costco with a thin white border. I knew I wanted a few big ones and those are printed at 8x12. The rest are a mix of 5x7, 4x6 and 3x3. Once I got them all printed, I took the frame off the wall, laid it on the floor and began laying out the photos. It took some time to get it all right, and I had to get a few extra photos printed in different orientations to make it all fit, but it all came together in the end!
WOW...what an incredible project. Amazing work...love it!!
Thank you so much, Steph, It makes me realise that I too could do this. I just hope the results look half as good!
Oh my, Stephanie, this is just wonderful. What joy this must give you each and every day. Thanks for sharing this beauty work of art!!
