Grow ...

Do you remember when you first heard about the phenomenon of “blogging”? I do. It was sometime in the 90’s and I remember being astonished at the idea. Since I’m really a rather private person, I couldn’t imagine wanting to put my life out there for the World Wide Web to see. Further, I couldn’t imagine that anybody out there would be at all interested in what goes on in my life and thoughts each day. Of course, this movement didn’t depend on my participation either as a blogger or a reader and it took off like the proverbial house afire.

Time passed and gradually I came to embrace the blogosphere, first as a reader, then as a blogger. I began blogging by “seeing life through a multigenerational lens” with my daughter and granddaughter. As my passion for photography grew, I gravitated toward photography blogs. Then one day, Terri, Claudia and I hatched the idea of starting a collaborative blog.

It’s been quite a journey! And there is something I’ve learned over the years: blogging is an art form. You have to grow your blogging skills just as you have to hone your photography skills, or your cooking skills, or any skill at all. Those of us who collaborate here at FOL have certainly grown since our launch in January 2012. And we’re still growing.

Now, I know many, if not most, of you have blogs of your own because I follow some of them. But I don’t think I know all of your sites and I would like to. We’re all about community here at our little blog so we’d like to embrace your thoughts and ideas as well. So what do you say to the idea of sharing our websites with one another here at FOL?

I’ll begin by making a list of the personal blogs from the FOL Sisters at the bottom of this post, you can also see them in the “About Us” tab up top. You can jump in either by leaving your web address in the comments or clicking on the “contact us” button up top and emailing us. If you wish, you may post them on our Facebook page. I will collect all the web adresses and post them on my next turn which will be May 20, allowing us all to become better acquainted.

A word about the comments: it is really hard to create an actual link so just type in your web address and I’ll link it when I post the list.
