Love Is Being A Mother

by Stephanie

Sunday marks the annual celebration of mothers here in the United States. It's a time we all stop to reflect on everything mothers are and thank them for all they've given to us, their children!

So as you celebrate your mother this weekend, or you are celebrated as someone's mother, I leave you with this sweet little poem.

Love Is Being A Mother
Love is scaring away monsters in the middle of the night, then again at 1:00 a.m., 2:00 a.m., 3:00 a.m.
Love is putting peanut butter on anything as long as they'll eat it!
Love is knowing how to disguise vegetables 30 different ways.
Love is reading the same bedtime story for the 999th time.
Love is a hug around the knees.
Love is watching Mr. Rogers instead of All My Children.
Love is cutting off the crusts.
Love is a refrigerator covered with creative works of art.
Love is not grimacing through the dirtiest of diapers.
Love is trading in the Camero for a station wagon.
Love is the magic kiss that heals all owies.
Love is a cuddly kid in a blanket sleeper.
Love is the first kick, first smile, first laugh, first step, first anything.
Love is your child pointing to a picture of Christie Brinkley and saying"mama".
Love is your child sound asleep, any child sound asleep.
Love is a macaroni necklace.
Love is wearing the macaroni necklace to church with pride.
Love is a peanut butter kiss, a syrup kiss, a chocolate kiss, any kind of kiss.
Love is when Bert & Ernie replace Robert Redford & Tom Selleck as your most admired men.
Love is not worrying about those few extra pounds cuz they make you more cuddly.
Love is knowing how to get out amoxicillin stains.
Love is a bouquet of dandelions.
Love is the smell of a baby's neck.
Love is saying no at the right times when it is easier to say yes.
Love is saying yes at the right times when it's easier to say no.

Almost two thirds of them generally get health from their businesses.
All insecticides are strong, including botanical units.

Dear Steph, Lovely post and poem and shot. A happy Mother's Day to you! Now I have to have a chat with "anonymous."
Dear Anonymous,
None of what you say makes much sense. Not a lot of people get health from their business. Wealth, maybe, but not health. Use a dictionary. The dictionary is your friend. Actually, there are some weak insecticides. Vinegar in water, just to name one. I think you may have an underlying fear of citronella (re your comment about "including botanical units") but let me tell you, there are kind and competent therapists that could help you work through this fear. Heck, you could end up spraying "Skin So Soft" all over yourself and not feeling nervous at all. Really. Help is at hand. Now, as to your link, I'm gonna let you in a little secret. We weren't born yesterday. Nope. Collectively we're about a thoussand years old and that's one bushelful of experience. We would no more click on your link that pick our noses while stuck in traffic (or pull our underwear down in the back when it rides up and we think no one will notice us doing that). We are a seasonsed bunch. We're funny, we're creative, we're compassionate, we're inspiring. We're a lot of things and you know, we've been around the block. A hundred times. So, Anonymous, you need to pack up. Shoo. Like, shoo, fly, shoo. You're bugging us. Don't make me get out the Deep Woods Off because I own it and I will use it. Pee in my sandbox one more time and you will feel my wrath. So move along now.
Ta.

Oh, my! Where to begin! I was going to remove Anonymous but now maybe I'd better leave it there so that Fishgirl's letter will make sense. You go, Fish!!! It needed to be said.

Beautiful Mom Tribute, Stephanie. And, oh!!!! I love that photo of four generations. Smashing! I must remember to do the same when we all gather for my mom's 85th birthday next month.

Happy Mom's Day to all of you!

What a great post...love your "generations" picture. Did many, many of those each year when my Mom was alive...there were 4 generations, like yours.

Fishgirl...you say it all, and all so well!!

And "Happy Mother's Day" to all!!

I have a four generation pic that I treasure - but it's not really a good shot of any of us - the new baby is kind of slowly sliding ioff my lap and we all look tired! Yours is so great! Isnt it wonderful that four generations can meet and share the love! We are very fortunate

OK gotta say it. I have a total crush on Fishgirl! Pam, you are just the best! I love people who say what everyone is thinking - but I especially love your unique way of saying it! I cant stop giggling!

Love your photo and the wonderful poem! I have a similar photo where I'm the baby and you can guess how old it is! Have always loved it.

As has been said by everybody already, Pam, you are such a treasure! This is what I think every time we get one of these that I have to delete. Do they really think we were all born yesterday and are dumb enough to follow their link? Wish there was a way to send this out to all spammers! Thank you, dear friend, for saying what we're all thinking and for putting a smile on my face this morning.

Such a wonderful portrait and post, Stephanie. Happy Mother's Day to you, your family, and everyone reading this.
AFishGirl's letter to "Anonymous" is awesome! When I grow up I want to be just like Pam!

I am laughing. Listen, if it's in the best interest to delete this by all means do so. I mean, delete that comment from "anonymous." Also, delete my thing too, if that is best. I'd hate someone to follow it and get a virus or something so yes, delete, delete. Thanks for letting me have my rant. I love you guys.
Pam
