A Change of Perspective

by Leigh

You know what it's like I'm sure.  Those times that you are feeling listless, uncreative, uninspired....like you are running on empty.  But then you see an image or read a post and it ignites  a spark that helps to get those creative juices running again.  This happened to me when I read this post of Stephanie's a few weeks ago.  Every word she wrote about feeling very blah about photography was exactly how I was feeling.  And lucky for me she offered a solution!  She changed her lens and that changed her perspective!  I decided right then and there to buy that 105mm macro lens I had been drooling over for the last year.  I call it divine intervention, but my husband just calls it mindless spending...but what does he know!

The lens gave me the ability to look closer and to delve deeper.  It totally brought me into nature and changed my perspective (both literally and figuratively).

One of the many things that I love about our FOL community is that we all share the same love.  And many of the issues that I struggle with you might struggle with as well.

I hope that you find inspiration here.  I hope that you read our posts and that it brings a sense of familiarity and a smile to your face as you nod your head in agreement.  I hope that you find yourself fitting right in here with our blog, Instagram, Facebook, Flickr family.  We would love to hear from you!  Share your photos with us at any of the above places.  Found a new cool app?  Share it with us on Instagram.  Have a technical question?  Ask away on our Facebook page.  Join the conversation as we all learn from and inspire one another.

Yep, nothing like a good ole' 105 mm macro lens to wake up those senses. Congrats on that mindless spending..."he said it, not me".

I'm still drooling over that one, but now I can live vicariously through you! I did the opposite. I had a lens that I almost never used and was ready to sell it. Well I read an article suggesting my lens for a particular project. I tried it successfully, and then left it attached for a while and......I fell in love! And (for once) I did it without spending any moolah! That never happens! So any extra cash (haha) can now go into the travel and macro lens pot for " someday!)

I remember getting my 100mm macro and falling instantly in love with all the little details of the world that I was now able to capture. In fact, it never left my camera for over a year! Still love it but now I try to change it up a bit, pulling out some of the others (so they don't feel discriminated against!) once in awhile. Your photos are glorious -- it looks like you've mastered that macro!

Absolutely stunning images Leigh! Though the equipment doesn't make the photographer, I agree that getting something new that requires being open to learning new things can gift us with new eyes in which to see! Congrats on your new acquisition!

totally nodding my head with you. :) we've all been and there is such a comfort in knowing that others have been there too. but it is also cool the way we can support and inspire each other as well. you know, it's always amazing to me how getting a new perspective...seeing things a little differently...can make such a difference in my photography and in my life. thanks for sharing your beautiful shots and inspiration!

Sometimes this is just what the doctor ordered. We all get into photography phunks and we all need to inspire one another so we can climb out. Your photos are so pretty ... well worth every penny you spent on your new lens.

Beautiful images with your new lens! Changing up things does help during the uninspired times! I recently changed to my 50mm to help me out of my slump! I always find inspiration and help here on FOL!
