Good Morning . . .

by Kim

The best part of wakin' up, is Folgers in your cup. Of course substitute the Folgers for your choice of cheer, which in my case would be Texas Pecan coffee with a good heap of french vanilla creamer.

Mornings are my favorite time of day. I mean, it's that moment when you wake up and your feet hit the floor that you realize you made it to another day! And seriously, what's not to love about that?

And then there is the rising sun, the dawn of a new day that happens when most people are sleeping. I don't think there is anything that starts your morning quite like watching the sunrise. It simply speaks of peace and contentment and even the seagulls come for the show.

"The time just before dawn contains the most energy of all hours of the day.
This has helped me become an early riser and an early doer...
When I wake to see that it's light out already, I feel the world has started without me."

- Terri Guillemets

Sometimes we are able to share our mornings with friends, on their back porch even if for a short time. This porch belongs to our very own Deanna and is where we came together before heading out for the day this summer in Chicago. Nothing says good morning like her back porch!

I do believe how we start our mornings sets the tone for the rest of the day. I almost always, with coffee in tow, take a little stroll through my garden. Nothing says good morning like the aroma of freshly opened flowers and their beautiful glow to start my day out right.

And mornings in the garden always brings visitors . . . I'm especially enjoying the migrating hummingbirds who have just shown up.

I quite like being up before everyone for some quiet time and reflection on the day, except perhaps on the weekend....then, I just may enjoy a little sleeping in!

"Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be forever looking for it." - Richard Whately

Oh, these photos are so beautiful...!! I do love early mornings - the sun has a special light to it that you just don't see at any other time of day. Coffee is my priority first thing in the morning, and I must confess I spend my "wake-up time" at the computer. Your way sounds a lot better!! If I had a sunny garden, I think I would do exactly as you do...our very shady property is not quite as sunny or bright. Thank you for sharing your spectacular view, Kim. :)

Love your mornings Kim. On the rare occasions that I have some just "me" time in the mornings I like to grab a cup of coffee and just sit quietly. I like to watch the changing light as the day begins and pull my thoughts together for my day.

Love all of your shots Kim, but that sunrise over the ocean..... well, that is amazing. Hope you had an awesome weekend and enjoyed that homecoming.

Ahhh, such lovely morning shots! And, oh, yes! Deanna's porch ... such sweet memories that holds for us, doesn't it? Makes me miss y'all so much. My mornings go better when at my own pace and each morning it varies. Sadly, I'm not a morning person, would that I were. But I do delight now that the cooler mornings are here enjoying my cuppa tea as I read the morning paper. Then, when it should be off to the treadmill, it is very often off to the camera instead, as it was this morning. The joy of being retired!

Oh, Kim, your shots illustrate morning perfectly! Like Dotti, I'm not a morning person either. It just comes too darn early! Looking forward to winter when I can be up for the sunrise. Yes, that shot of Deanna's porch left me longing to be back there with everybody, enjoying Kim's wonderful pecan coffee (even without the caffeine!), listening to the birds and enjoying each other's company. Such a special time that was. Maybe if we do a get together in your neck of the woods you will have us all up before dawn!

What a wonderful post and your images are once again stunning....you know how I like my mornings, coffee, porch, newspaper, doesn't get any better than that. Unfortunately the mornings are getting too cool to sit out on the porch, hopefully before winter sets in, it will warm up enough to enjoy a few more!!

Note to self: I must become a morning person!

put me in the 'not a morning person' category too. but i have to admit that there is something special about having a new start to the day. and that is something to celebrate. just as you've done with these gorgeous photos.

Mornings are hard for me, much to my chagrin. The light is stunning for photography and all I want to do is sleep...sigh♥ I would love to try your Texas Pecan coffee.
