The light was perfect.
The temperature was a balmy 93 degrees.
My family had been fed and was settling in to watch the
Cowboys.
My camera was calling to me from the shelf.
And that was all the convincing I needed to get out of the
house and flex my creative muscles.
My first stop was our local botanical garden. The light was gorgeous!
I found some delicate beauty.
And some strong lines.
My next stop was the local train station.
I walked the track.....
Wondering where it might take me.
I enjoyed the local sights and decided I need to explore more of what my town has to offer!
I hope you can find some time in the near future to embark on a photo journey in the area where you live! Whether you take a friend along or go it alone, I know you will capture some unique images!
Happy shooting, my friends!

Beautiful images. I love exploring local areas.
Wonderful shots, Steph. It's so true, it might be right outside our own door. I am now singing Johnny Cash, "I Walk The Line" which I do whenever I see train track shots. Grin.
these are gorgeous steph. and oh that wonderful light. so much great stuff to see if we just get out and explore!
How on earth did you get that self portrait, flare and all, when you are not behind te lens? inspirational!
Ditto what Kelly and Carol said, and I love to photograph where I live. And as much as I love track photos, I found out recently from someone in my photography meet up group that there is a $10,000 fine for trespassing...I had no idea. But I have to say that photo with the flare is gorgeous!
Beautiful images, especially the self-portrait. My husband & I act like tourists in our own city often. Really makes me appreciate where I live. Happy Friday!
It's so true! We tend to forget the beauty right in our own neighborhoods! What a lovely journey you had here, Stephanie. And my favorite is the self-portrait on the tracks. So perfect. And good for you! Carving out your 'me' time, feeding your creative spirit. Something we all need to do more often.
This is one of my goals - to get out in my area and do some shooting..Your photos are nice. Like Kim said, I know they can give huge fines for being on train tracks, but around here I don't have to worry about that - there would hardly be a time that a train wasn't coming down the track so I couldn't be on them anyway. haha
Love the rail shos and the lens flare. It would be a great excessive to see what compelling things you can photograph on a neighborhood walk. Valerie
I am so overdue for a fun and simple dedicated photo walk. Inspired and booking it in. Thank you
Love your morning walk....do you live in Grapevine?? I used to go water skiing on Grapevine Lake when I was a kid living in Dallas. Great photos, Stephanie. PS Glad you decided to sign up for the Picture class, it's where we all started!!
OMG love love love, the tracks, the light....the black and white
