JOY-full

by Dotti

Oh! What a delightfully JOY-full month we've had at FOL!

I don't know about you, but I've found a lot of inspiration in the posts this month, learned a few things and discovered the 'habit of joy'. The photos on our Flickr pages and in our IG thread have been full of beauty and JOY. My hope is that you have been similarly inspired this month.

But ... let's not stop here. Let's keep the JOY flowing in the months to come. What do I mean by that? Well, I plan to get into the 'habit of joy'. You see, I fully believe that we choose JOY ... or we don't. Susan reminded us that JOY comes from within, not from external sources. So each day, I'm going to try to consciously choose to be JOY-full ... one day at a time.

This is easier for most of us in the holiday season and I know it will be more of a challenge as the winds of life buffet me about but it is still a conscious choice and it is the choice I'm going to make ... to the best of my ability.

Will you join me?

Have you noticed our new feature, Focus on Phoneography? For the past two months, Linda has been posting the Instagram #focusingonlife mosaic on Sundays. Since it's so delightful to see this mosaic 'on the big screen', this will become a regular feature beginning in January. So, if you've been posting to Instagram and you haven't been using our hashtag, please start adding it {#focusingonlife}. You just might find yourself featured in the weekly mosaic! And anybody who uses their phones to take photos, you are invited join our Focus on Phoneography Flickr page where you can share your phonegraphy photos with all of us, even those who don't use IG.

And, finally ... we have two more days of JOY, today and tomorrow. But on Wednesday, we will have a brand spanking new year as well as a brand spanking new theme: Beginnings. Perfect for January, don't you think?

Oh! And Happy New Year to all of you and your families!

love the focus on JOY, and yes, it is so different from happy, and definitely JOY is something to be chosen and cultivated. Great reminder. Beginnings will be a great new focus though and perfect for the start of the new year.

These monthly themes have really become part of me now! Gratitude and joy and soon beginnings! These really make each day a little brighter to focus on them instead of some of the other not so nice things that sometimes creep into life! I'm looking forward to 2014!

I agree Dotti. I find a lot of inspiration from all of our posts, and this "joy" theme has been wonderful. I'm hoping that I will be able to continue focusing on JOY as we move into the new year and onward.

Yes, I've been loving our themes too! It surprised me how focusing on gratitude and joy have made my days a little brighter. I am going to try to keep those two themes as part of my everyday in the coming year and am so looking forward to "Beginnings" to start 2014. It's going to be another great year here at FOL!
