Simply Said...

by Susan

Short. Sweet. To the point.

With simplicity being our focus this month, I've decided to also scale my post down to this simple image and quote… but one that gives great thought.

With that said… what is your gift? How do you give it meaning… purpose?

Such a private question… an important question… to ask yourself.

Ponder away…

Listening. I know that sounds weird given I'm hearing impaired and maybe that all along has made me listen more intently but I hope to think that is my gift. Friends have told me it is. My first thought was making people laugh for the answer. It is a hard question but I like hard questions. Hey, it is recess time yet? Can I go out and play? When is the test... yeah, maybe it's the laughing thing. Dunno. Happy day FOLers.

This is one of my very favorite quotes. But I'm with AFishGirl. It's a tough question to answer. I've always felt like a 'jack of all trades and master of none' which may be a way of saying I see several 'gifts' that I have and that I give away daily. Love of beauty, love of music, laughter, reading ... I share them all. Short but lovely post, Susan!

Hmmmm Susan, great quote, great question. Maybe I'm a jack of all trades like Dotti mentioned, but when asked to describe myself in one word, I have answered 'empathetic.' Maybe empathy is my gift to the world.... thinking....thinking....

Love this quote! If I had to come up with a gift I would say "patience". I taught Photoshop classes for several years and my students said I was so amazingly patient with them. Ha! They didn't know I went home pulling my hair out because I had spent two hours trying to teach Photoshop to people who didn't even know how to create a new folder on their desktop! But apparently I didn't let it show because they thought I was so patient. I even had a call from a former student the other day who said, "I remember how much I learned from you because you were so patient with the fact that I came into class knowing nothing." In a family of men who have very little patience, I had to demonstrate the art (as well as the benefit) of patience. Not sure if they learned it or not but I tried. :-)

What a great post and something for me to really ponder.

Very significant and thought provoking post. Complex simplicity

a favorite quote of mine too...but hard to answer. hard to see my subjectively. sometimes I think it's helpful to enlist the help of our loves ones and often they see can see our gifts a little more clearly. xo
