I Get It

by Deanna

OK, I must hang my head in shame and ask forgiveness for all the times I watched you take your Phone pics and thought WHY?  Why do you take pictures with your phone instead of using that expensive camera and lenses that you have invested in.  Why??  Ofcourse that was when I had an I-Phone 4, and personally I thought the camera sucked and there was no way I was going to to choose a phone over my beloved big girl camera.  She went with me everywhere, sitting in the front seat of the car, or stuffed into a large bag, or simply strapped to my body so I was ready to grab that unexpected photo op.

Then as I was gathering all my stuff for our FOL trip to Galveston,( you know about that incredible time we spent together, if not just read the last 2 weeks of our posts and you will get an idea of just what a grand time we had together) I thought about my old phone, that I had never upgraded and how I would be surrounded by 9 women taking, not just camera shots, but phone shots. I decided I didn't want to be on the "outs" any longer. And since  I was due for an upgrade (you think??) off I went to the Verizon store without hesitation, knowing that I could depend upon my FOL sisters to guide me back into phonography, advising me which apps to use, how to's, etc.

It wasn't too long, I admit, that I have become quite addicted to this new way of seeing thru the lens of an I-Phone, trying to compose, tilting the camera to avoid glare, using the myriad choices of Apps to enhance the shots, having a camera that captures landscapes as well as macros, and rests quite nicely in my pocket. (note to self, always buy clothes with pockets)

So yes, I always have my phone with me, yes I am back on "instagram", yes I now gasp at some of the beauty I have seen on our "instagram" feed.  Sometimes it just takes me awhile to "get it".

PS All photos taken with my I-Phone 6.

All hail peer pressure! I laugh only because I felt the same way, and now I never leave home without it! I must say, however, you are NOT a slow learer- these shots are beautiful!

Better late than never. Welcome to the addicting world of iPhoneography! My iPhone 6 is on it's way to my house sometime this month. I am happy with my 4s but the quality my husband gets with his 5s makes me excited for the 6 to be in my hands and out exploring the countryside. Yes, pockets are essential :)

Sitting here with a {{ big smile }} on my face! Yes, it was so cute to watch you fall down the rabbit hole. Fun, isn't it? And I have to agree with Carol, you are not a slow learner, you're out in front of the pack now. But yes, I did feel the same way you did until I got my 5S. But I still like my big girl camera better, I just don't always have her with me whereas I never leave home without my iPhone.

I can't tell you HOW excited I am to see you on Instagram!!
But alas, I still have the iPhone 4S and will until my budget will allow the "upgrade" ------ since we have a service provided that we don't pay all the bells & whistles to & have to buy our phone's outright.
Until then - my shots won't be as clear, as sharp, but I don't care--------I'll do it anyways!

Oh, Deanna, this brings such a smile to my face! Last year when we were all in Chicago you were telling us all, "Put your phones down!" This year you were shooting with your phone right along side the rest of us. And, man, did you hit the ground running! You are doing some amazing things with that new phone of yours right off the bat. I completely agree with you that the iPhone 4 just didn't cut it but once I got the 5, it was off to the races. Waiting for my upgrade to the 6 next summer and trying to be patient! So happy to have you on IG and to get to see all the beauty you capture every day.

Gorgeous images! It's not the tool, it's the photographer.

Wow - these are wonderful, Deanna! I'm due to get my iPhone 6 in about a week. I had a 5 and thought the camera was great. Can't wait to try the new one. Now you'll have to tell what apps you're using.

It's so fun that you "get it!" Your iPhoneography is just as wonderful as your big girl camera photography! You will have fun with, I know. :)

You're not alone. I'm still iPhone5 era, but it takes beautiful landscape photos. Can't say much for anything else, but it does a grand sky and the color is intense without being too saturated. I still love my "real" camera though.

Yes! It's so nice to see you having fun taking and processing pictures with your phone! And you pictures are so good! You have made me fall in love with my phone all over again! Yea! You have made me want to upgrade my phone! Now to find someone that has the 6 in stock!

These are fantastic - I am totally hit and miss with my cell phone pictures - I suspect it has more to do with the operator than the machine.
