It's A Magical Time

by Judy

As Kelly proved to us so beautifully on Tuesday, this is a magical time of year where a simple string of lights can create magic in your home, and around your town.

There are so many things to like about this time of year, but I think one of my favorites is how people who wouldn't normally make eye contact with you any other time of year, are suddenly smiling, nodding their heads, and wishing you a Merry Christmas, or a Happy Holiday!

It does seem that this time of year brings out the best in most of us.  And isn't that exactly what we need right now?  For those brief moments of greeting, for those friendly smiles and waves from across the street, we can put aside the worries and struggles of this world for just a moment.

We need to celebrate these small moments of joy.  Read a Christmas book to your child or grandchild.  Savor a cup of peppermint tea by the fire.  Inhale the heavenly aroma of the trees and garland surrounding you.  And yes, take in the sights of all of those twinkly lights.  This time of year goes so quickly.  Be sure to slow down and celebrate these magical moments.

Sending my wishes to all of you for a truly magical holiday.

Kelly said exactly what I'm thinking - we need to be this kind all year round. It's not just for the holidays! Slowing down, taking a moment for ourselves is just what the doctor ordered. And I love your twinkle lights.

I completely agree! It puts a smile on my face the way people are so friendly and smiling at each other this time of year and if only we could all be that way the whole year through, what a wonderful world it would be! Hmmm, I think that has the makings of song lyrics! My "holiday hustle" is slowing down and I've managed to get through the past few weeks intent on focusing on all the magic. As you said, it goes by way too fast. I had a cup of peppermint tea by the tree last night!
