A Coloring Book of Spring

by Deanna

Each month we here at Focusing On Life chose a theme for the month.  We each have an opportunity to pick a theme that appeals to us individually. Since my month to choose was April, I naturally went for the first idea that came to my mind.....Spring colors.  We here in the Midwest sometimes don't see many colors until late April or sometimes even into May depending on the length and breadth (that means just how damn cold it was) of our winter.  But golly, for the first time in several winters we had a rather mild one, not too lengthy and not to brief.  Our colors began poppin' early this month, and now all of our Spring colors are blooming and some are, sad to say already gone.  Spring has been glorious this year and thus I present to you a coloring book (because I have so many images you will definitely think this is a book) of our Spring colors.

"Every gardener knows that under the cloak of winter lies a miracle....a seed waiting to sprout, a bulb opening to the light, a bud straining to unfurl. And the anticipation nurtures our dream."
                                                                                                                   ~  Barbara Winkler

First the pinks....from the lovely magnolias to the cherry blossoms, to the crab apple and the redbuds.

"Science has never drummed up quite as effective a tranquilizing agent as a sunny spring day."
                                                                                                                                    ~  W. Earl Hall

"If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall."  ~  Nadine Stair

And the oranges and yellows.....

This was a orange/peach color quince but when I uploaded it to blogger it changed the color, blogger has also changed many of the pinks to almost purples.  Anyone else having this issue??  Technology, it's great when it works the way you expect, but this is discouraging.  (Sorry about the complaint in the middle of this post, but I have never had that happen to me in the past)

We can't forget the white blossoms that are as stunning as the colors....

"Every spring is the only spring - a perpetual astonishment."  ~  Ellis Peters

And finally, the lilacs are in bloom.  Really early for these beauties to be bursting. I wonder what May will bring since the colors of April have been so dazzling.

I think this quote from Virgil A. Kraft pretty well sums up my feelings on Spring.....

"Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world."

How delightful to see this wonderful 'coloring book' as I begin what is a rainy day here in my neck of the woods. I'm not really complaining, though. We've had ample rain but it has also brought gorgeous spring blooms. Still I never get enough of beautiful blooms so this was a lovely way to trip through the arboretum with you. Thanks for taking me along!

These have got to be the most beautiful pink flower I've seen in a long time! The color and softness are so tender and that bokeh is the icing on the cake! Great Spring Theme post! Thanks for sharing!
