Wintertime

Winter is here.  The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has faded with only the memories remaining (and a few decorations still left to be put away).  This time of the year is a quiet time for me….a time to reflect, to plan, to snuggle in for some catching up on books, magazines, and TV shows that have been placed aside during the busyness of Christmas-time.

A hot cup of tea on a winter afternoon when my fingers begin to numb from the chill of a cold winter’s day satisfies my soul.  The warm cup feels good to wrap my hands around feeling the heat, relieving the chill.

We have had no measurable snow yet this winter (if you read my blog you have heard me complain about this on SEVERAL occasions) and I yearn to grab my camera and head out down a country road to capture the beauty of snow, but for right now I have to be satisfied with the other beauty of winter, the dried leaves, and the remains of summer flowers….their lovely textures stand out in the starkness of a winter’s day.

Many times as the sun sets and the darkness has settled around us by 5:00 PM I decide that a hot bath and some warm winter PJ’s is the answer to a relaxing winter’s evening at home.

How do you spend these short winter days and long winter nights?  Do you love to snuggle up with a good book, or to be out and about in the cold?   Give us a look-see as to what your winter days look like in our flickr group or our instagram group...we love to see what you are doing.

You look warm and cozy and ready for winter ... snow or no. In winter I read a lot (true any time of year actually), drink a lot of hot tea, buy a lot of flowers to brighten my home and to photograph. And ... dream of summer days at the beach.

hahaha, I read your blog and I've heard you complaining about the lack of snow! I think we're the only two "grown ups" who complain about that. Beautiful shots, Deanna, great post. Let it snow. Please. A lot.

Not complaining about lack of snow here! Complaining about our very cold weather right now, or at least very cold for here! And being a desert girl, I'm not crazy about the cold but I'm heading up north this coming Thursday where they had snow all day yesterday so if I'm lucky there will still be some around for me to shoot. A rare treat! I love to read when the weather is less than ideal and add in a nice hot cup of tea and I'm in heaven! Wish we could all sit down together for a hot cup of tea and some girl talk!
