My Roses Outweigh My Thorns....

by Deanna

Here I am again, trying to come up with an original post.  You know how difficult this is when I am surrounded by beautiful, smart, intelligent, resourceful and talented ladies that contribute to this collaborative blog 5 days a week?  I think each of us struggles with what to say, how to say it, or that whatever we say might encourage or inspire some one of you to take a leap, tackle something you have been struggling with, go for it, get out of that rut.

Over on my personal blog Snippets From Springdale, I have been focusing on gratitude every day this month, writing a little, posting a few images of what I am especially grateful for during November, the “thanksgiving” month.  This is not unique, many are doing just that on their blogs, facebook, instagram, some are journaling, some are scrapping and still others are only taking a picture, but the focus is on gratitude.  Our monthly theme on our Flickr FOL site is gratitude.  We are encouraging each other to stop, take a moment and focus on those things in your life you are most grateful for.  This is the 15th of the month, most of mine have been rather grand….like seasons, trees, my warm cozy home, but I am sure that as the month progresses I will start thinking small, like my fuzzy slippers.

As I type this I can hear my dog barking in the front yard, grateful for him who gives me that unconditional love….I am waiting for really good friends that are in town for a short visit to pick me up and share a meal and time together, grateful for their friendship and the time altho brief spent catching up since last we met.  Tomorrow evening I will spend time with friends sharing a meal & watching a movie, grateful for those “girlfriend” moments. Sunday I will be attending an Advent Tea where some of my photos will be shown in a slide show as a chorus will sing along with spiritual narration, so grateful for this opportunity.

My heart is filled beyond gratitude for all these gifts, of friends, of my pets, of opportunities that await.  So again, I am encouraging you to stop and really focus on your life and all the abundances that come your way daily.  My life is not filled with roses each and every moment, but my roses far outweigh the thorns.

Oh, yes, Deanna! We all have so much to be grateful for, from small things to really meaningful things. As I do my photographic journal this month, I'm almost overwhelmed because there are so many things in my life to be grateful for. Of course, trying to put a photo to it sometimes limits that selection. :-D But I'm grateful for you and for your lovely post this morning as we reach the half way mark of our month of gratitude.

One would think there are only so many ways to say it - but you keep coming up with beautiful new ones. I love the way you've written this. And BTW - you do more in one weekend than I do in 2 weeks!

Yes, focusing on gratitude this month really brings home how much we have to be grateful for. But I just have to say that the thing I love most about you, Miss Deanna, is your amazing spirit. Through thick and thin, you have a positive attitude as is shown by your statement, "My roses far outweigh the thorns." You are definitely a "glass is half full" kind of girl and we all could learn a lot from you on that score. Every time I read one of your uplifting posts, it just makes my day that much brighter. Thank you, my friend!

i mean what is there to say that hasn't really been said before by someone else right? but i think this is at the very heart of what gratitude is and where the real power of gratitude lies. in the very mundane, ordinary part of our lives. you expressed it so perfectly. and we need to hear it so desperately. thank my dear friend.
