They are starting to pop up all over town. All over the neighborhoods.
Flags lining the streets and banners hanging from front porches.
"The colors of the pales (the vertical stripes) are those used in the flag of the United States of America; White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice."
As we prepare for the Fourth of July holiday on Saturday with our festive decorations and patriotic themed party-ware, I think it's important to take a moment to appreciate what these colors represent. To appreciate the hard-won freedoms that we enjoy today. And knowing that this freedom comes with a price....I think it is also important to acknowledge the sacrifices made by service men and women in defense of those freedoms.
So with that in mind, today I would just like to take this opportunity to celebrate this country that I call home. Express my gratitude for the freedom and independence to share my pictures and tell my stories. And finally to wish all of you a happy Independence Day!
Love, Kelly

Love all your flag shots, Kelly, but that last one is awesome! As I put my flag out this past weekend and looked down the block at the others displayed by my neighbors, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and gratitude to live where I do. Happy 4th to you and yours!
Happy 4th of July Kelly! Beautiful shots, and I love learning about the flag. I say it all the time- I think the American flag is truly beautiful - for its looks and its meaning.
